Its primary task was to make domestic Italian air traffic, particularly to destinations in southern Italy, profitable through a lower cost structure. The close cooperation with Alitalia could not be overlooked in the fleet policy, but also in the brand image. No fewer than 38 MD-82s were part of the fleet in the 1980s.
