The four-engine IL-62 was the first long-haul aircraft in the Polish LOT fleet and entered service in 1972. The last copy was not retired until 1993. The first flight took off in May 1972 from Warsaw to Toronto and Montreal. This IL-62 of the heavily modernized M version is named after Wladyslaw Sikorski, the highly respected military and also political leader of Poland. This IL-62 model also comes with the removable support wheel, which ensures stability when loading and unloading the IL- 62, which tended to tilt due to the arrangement of the engines at the rear.
