Lufthansa Boeing 707-400 D-ABOB "Hamburg" Herpa Wings Die-Cast 572019 Scale 1:200
Die-Cast metallic model
This aircraft was the last remaining Boeing 707 of Deutsche Lufthansa. She last had the registration D-ABOB, although during her active years with Lufthansa she was traveling as D-ABOD with the baptismal name "Frankfurt". After being decommissioned in 1975, it was used by the trainees at Lufthansa Technik in the Hamburg shipyard as a training aircraft, as which it later received the red and white colors of Hamburg Airport. When Lufthansa Technik no longer had any use for the D-ABOD in 1999, it left it to Hamburg Airport. As an exhibition object, it was not only given the identification of its sister D-ABOB, but also its christening "Hamburg", as well as a new paint job, which basically corresponded to the Lufthansa outfit from 1968.
The high cost pressure triggered by Corona forced Hamburg Airport to scrap this historic one-off in the summer of 2021, despite passionate rescue attempts by many aircraft enthusiasts. Herpa is now resurrecting the aircraft on a scale of 1:200, which will certainly remain a nice souvenir for many fans.
Model is approximately 8 ¾ inches long with 8 ¾ inch wingspan.
