This die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1/500 scale with landing gear no stand. Model is approximately 3 1/8 inches long with 2 1/2 inch wingspan. On February 1, 1964, this only three-engine aircraft ever developed by Boeing entered service for the first time. To this day, the 727, with its distinctive T-shaped tail and three rear engines, remains one of the most popular and well-known aircraft. In 2024, Herpa will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 727 with a selection of new models in a classic design. The icon of commercial aviation, Pan American World Airways, usually simply called Pan Am, was one of the largest operators of the 727. From 1966 onwards, several examples were used on the European route network with hubs in London, Frankfurt and West Berlin - such as this one 727-100 with the registration N340PA and the German name "Clipper Jet Droschke", which appears as a limited edition in a scale of 1:500.
