After the Australian Air Force had already successfully used a predecessor from Pilatus with the PC-9 for more than two decades, it also decided on the Swiss aircraft manufacturer's youngest trainer. The ultra-modern PC-21 replaced the PC-9 in the 4th season in 2020 in the role of flight control aircraft. Therefore, the four units of the unit received a more inconspicuous gray paint in place of the previous strong red color of the training aircraft.
