USAF C-130J-30 37TH AIRLIFT SQN RAMSTEIN HE537452 Herpa scale 1:500 Highly detailed Herpa Wings Scale 1:500 The Ramstein-based 37th Air Transport Squadron took part with three C-130J Super Hercules in the commemorations of the 75th anniversary of “D-Day”, the beginning of the invasion of France by Allied troops to liberate Europe from the German Nazis. It was formed as the 37th Troop Transport Squadron. Equipped with Douglas C-47s at the time, the squadron dropped paratroopers outside Sainte-Mère-Église in Normandy on D-Day. Just like the C-47 in 1944, Ramstein's C-130s are marked with the black and white "invasion stripes" and a "W7". The designation “Whiskey 7” gave the paratroopers guidance as to which aircraft they had to board. This die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1/500 scale with landing gear no stand.
